Remember Rounders? "The same guys don't keep getting to the final table in the WSOP because of luck" Exactly. It's skill. In the 2 years I have played online I have learned quite a bit. Even before I started playing online I thought I was good in live poker... nah now I think im about 300x better. And still I have a logn ways to go.

I honestly dont have respect for some players though.. Greg Raymer? If EV is positive go in? Rofl. I mean he went in 98 off in the tournament of champions like a nut. If you watch a lot of his plays, he just got extremely lucky especially as he was approaching the final table.

I've had the worst of luck at PP actually. I have playing there. More like I just go on tilt because the interface sucks. Hahaha. I dont want my parents yelling at me for those PP beeps so I always act quick.... too quick at times.

Raymer is a great player and yes, if EV is positive, you should go in. Nobody has ever become champion without getting lucky. Its not like he made any huge suckouts.

anyone who gets to the final table will have a lot of luck associated with it, the tournament is too big to be otherwise. Even if you go all in with pocket aces and are called 5 times, chances are you will lose once.

Absolutely incredible that Raymer is leading after Day 3. In a field this huge, seeing Raymer over a million in chips is just awesome. Out of the top 30 or 40 chip leaders, there's only a handful of big names around. Can't wait to see some of the ESPN footage. Their featured table has been pretty darn good (Helmuth when busted, Farha when dominating, etc).

I'd rather not know too much about what's going on so I can see it on ESPN and be surprised.

Speaking of Greg Raymer... with 185 players left in the WSOP coming into Day 4:

1 Greg "Fossil Man" Raymer $ 1,064,000

He's the chipleader.

Of course, but you would take those chances every time. The winner will have to win a large majority of their coin flips (forget worrying about getting beaten with AA). In fact, the only times they can lose these are against short-stacked (compared to their own stack) players. Last year, Raymer played phenomenal poker. He also happened to get extremely lucky. You can't beat 5K players otherwise.

If he wins, it would be without a doubt, the single greatest accomplishment in the history of poker, considering the past two years starting fields.

Hmm. The WSOP has been going on for 30+ years. It's just gotten more popular. With a first prize of 7.5M and over 60M (I think) in prize money, what do you expect?

Where are all the top ranked asian players? Not enough TV coverage of them. Then again, america only gets engaged to stories such as kidnapped white girls, or any matter involving white people. If it was a person of any other ethnicity, there would be no news.

What are you talking about? The coverage has not begun. Asian players are covered all the time. I can rattle off 4 or 5 names only b/c of TV coverage.

Isn't there an overpriced chicken skewer cart you should be manning?

(If we're going to play Bad Stereotypes?, we should all have a turn)

I'd have to agree considering coverage hasn't even started.

All I am saying is that ESPN only does those little videos on the white players. They hardly mention asian or any other players of different ethnicities.

why? because he is one of the best big stack players around?
because he is a good player that most people underrates?

hopefully this will give his first win some legitimacy and remove the thought that it was all luck.
