I remember somebody on here posted about this game and how it was pretty buggy. Well, the good people *coughcough* at IGN gave it a 7.9 review and said it was pretty decent. THey mentioned nothing about bugs, so I thought maybe it was just the dudes on heres computer, or maybe Activision had fixed them.
Besides it's only $20 bucks that's not bad at all.
the good:
Poker
you play again the people on the TV, which makes it more interesting
the bad:
I've played 4 times and in the tournement mode I've encountered about umm 20 bugs. One time the play buttons started displaying giberish so I couldn't tell what I was betting or what I was doing, nice!
reloaded and the player models started to blink 60 times a second, NICE!
reloaded today, when I'd preview my cards I'd see NADA! I played 10 hands in the dark (since I couldn't see what I had) and I won most of the hands LOL.
the games laggy? I told it I wanted to fold, and it sat there "rookie thinking" and took 5 seconds, it seems to not react right away to anything I tell it to do. If the game wasn't so damn buggy I'd think it was simulating real poker where people take their time, but this sucks.
1 option for graphics and that's resolution, 1240x1024 is the max resolution, no AA or nothing.
the graphics are pretty mediocre, the player models do look like the real person, I could easily identify everyone at my table from TV. pretty jaggy though, animations are dumb. Chris Fergerson won the blinds (100 bucks total) and was acting like he hit 4 people all in. I've never see him even react on TV, but whatever. Poker games are mostly static graphics, I don't understand why we can't get one with cutting edge graphics. It's not like it would be hard, or take a year to do. 8 dudes sitting at a table with very little animation needed, WHY do they all suck? whatever...
announcers are annoying, it really reminds me an OLD game where voice was cutting edge. example "Rookie has 5... 6... off suit" sounds cheap and pasted together, doesn't help when they actually talk they repeat the same shit. A lot of the commentary is cut off in the middle "you know something Chris Fergers... here's the river!" annoying
chips representation is horrible, the bet was $40 I threw in 1 blue chip, okay. Next round the bet was $100 I threw in... 1 blue chip? Also one time I bet 400 and he put in a couple white chips, a few hands later I bet 600 and naturally, he put in about 2 dozen damn white chips. Another grip of mine HOW hard could it possibly be to render realistic chips that actually represent how much a player has? Bet the same amount 4 hands in a row and watch it throw out different chips each time.

oddly enough playing heads up I didn't encounter any bugs, I did 2 rounds and it was, well sort of fun. From 1 1/2 days of owning it I can't say the AI is very realistic or bright even. They seem to bet randomly, it's pretty easy to get them to fold, but sometimes they'll call with nothing and 4 to a straight on the board. Again, I'd say this is realistic bluffing, but this game just sucks and that would be giving it too much credit.
I can't speak about online play about to go try it, if it's not as buggy as tourney play it might actually be the games saving grace.
sorry for the long rant, but I was really hoping this would be a decent poker game, and the fuckers at IGN had my hopes up.
the game's title is "WSOP 2008: BTFB" which I thought was battle for the bracelet. But after an hour of playing I believe it's earned the name "Battle The Fucking Bugs"
it's an Activision Value title and a console port on top of that, I won't hold my breath for a patch.
