I just finished watching the WoW documentary series (3-part) on gametrailers.com

I have to say, I'm interested now. :) I'm from India. Any idea if they have servers out here? Also, how to do I go about paying and all that stuff? If it helps, I have a PayPal account.

Also, most importantly, how long should I set aside for trying this out? I once gave Ragnarok a try, but after 20 mins, I felt well ... alone.

My brothers exams are going on right now, so I'll probably be able to join in only in December or so. Any preparations or the like I need to read on or something ?

try it as long as it's fun. when it no longer becomes fun, then it's time to quit. i don't get these people that say " the game doesn't get good until lvl 40". if i am bored out of my mind or i am not having fun playing a game, wtf makes you think i want to play for 40 lvls?

expect to me alone, Most people don't want to start new chars after all this time, especially after the new expansion.

Don't bother starting. It's one of my biggest regrets, in regards to gaming. I wasted so much time and money on that stupid game.

Yes, it's fun to constantly strive for bigger and better weapons/armor/spells, but there comes a day when you realize that your damage percents rarely change along the way.

Don't even get me started on what a waste of time raiding is.

Full disclosure: I had a lvl 70 mage and 60 hunter, both of which i sold.

I wonder if blizzard is hurting itself at all by only doing expansions.

I have thought about playing, but don't want to start playing such an old game after everyone has been playing for 4+ years. So I would just wait until a new one comes out(not an expansion) where everyone starts at the beginning.

It's a lot of fun. Easy to get jaded when you've played for years, but it's really a great experience. I suggest you try it!

Most of the arguments against could be applied to any other MMO, or in fact most any game.

There is a new promotion out now where current wow players can invite someone to the game (you get a email with a serial number to create a new account) and as long as you are in the same group as the person who invited you, you will gain experience 3x faster until you hit level 50 or 60.

Also something about exclusive mounts and I don't how many characters you can create with this.

I hated WoW until the Wrath of the Lich King expansion cause I was a new player. WOTLK makes me feel like I'm a part of the game again - everyone is starting back at square one and the lore is relevant for all of us. I'm real impressed with WOTLK

don't get started! i finally was able to quit due to the fact that i resisted the urge to buy lich king. i played since prebc. it's nice to be able to go out and do things again, like eat out, read, watch tv. after awhile, the game becomes like a job.

i gotta do dailies, i gotta do raids, i gotta farm; farm mats, farm gold, farm cloths/leater/mining supplies/herbs...

then there's pvp, you have to farm honor to get gear, you gotta get rating for arena. you finally figure out what combo/strats are good for you then blizzard comes along and nerfs your class...

damn,, i miss the game already.

Try it, I look back on my two years in WoW with great joy. I had a blast playing it with my buds from school. Unfortunately, those days are gone :(

Anubis,

Thanks for that. I didn't realize the WoW thread here at AT had such stuff in it. I'll definitely be looking into it sometime soon.

It's a bit sad to hear about that version issue. So that means if I want to play on the US servers, I'll need to get the US version of the game, right?

Considering this is an MMORG, I think I'd better look into which server gives me the least amount of lag.

I hope this is not going to be too expensive.

I just had a thought guys, can I create 2 players with one accout and when I'm playing with one, simultaneously, can my brother play with the other player? It sure would be fun then !

I played a very long time also then made 1k selling my account, so in some cases its not a waste.
