I have the creative soundblaster live! 24 bit built into my msi k8n sli mobo for computer I just built. I also have 100 dollar 7.1 surround sound speakers hooked up to it, but I'm not sure how to get them working for wow or if this sound card is going to work. I'm also not exactly sure how to test them (in game I mean). I think the setup is ok because I tried them out on half life, and they seemed to work, and the sound tests work fine outside of games. I also would turn off all but one speaker and then turn away from sounds to test it--that was the only test I could think of for half life.
On wow, no such luck. I could tell when I put it in that it didn't sound quite right. When I tested it, I tried the only turn one speaker on test (using a side speaker) and I got no sound whatsoever no matter what I did, even though I thought the same speaker worked with all speakers on.
I couldn't find any wow sound options saying stuff like "enable 3d audio" or "enable positional audio" or "7.1 speakers," you know, the sorts of options youd expect to find and turn on like I did in half life. If anyone knows how I can set this up or how I can change the sound options in wow more effecively, please let me know. Or if I need an audigy for wow, but I think it will work with what I've got.
