never played it.

During the open beta, there were huge lag problems due to too many players. I guess they didn't fix it before they went retail.

There were huge uproars in the beta community about how they would have to fix the lag issues before release but they never did. I guess the way they're running things now is why a lot of members left.

I wish I could access that linky from work. Is it a joke? They've been having some serious lag and uptime issues lately. Just curious.

If it's true, could someone please pull a chunk out of the article and repost it? I would buy .

It doesn't say much....

Chris writes "FileFront has broke the news from Blizzard that they are no longer placing their highly popular MMORPG on store shelves, due to the recent server problems reported by Slashdot on Tuesday. Denying rumors that they had asked several stores to pull the game from shelves, Blizzard rep Gil Shrif is quoted as saying: 'We?re just being careful not to release additional copies to be sold until we feel the game servers can support additional players.' The online store on Blizzard's website shows the game to be out of stock. No word on whether or not this will affect the Korean release."

Now, where's my drink? :)

The servers go down almost everyday and there is constant lag issues during peak times. You people are probably wondering why people would play this game.

The reason the game has so many problems is that the game is so popular and it is so popular because the game is so good. No other game can compare to the size and features of WoW and I have played every MMRPG released since UO.

If you like Blizzard games you will love WoW and probably become as addicted as the rest of us.

Not entirely true. Most servers have had 99% up time since release. The recent issues have been isolated to about 15 of the 80 or so servers. I think Blizz just decided that 700,000+ subscribers was enough for the time being.

It shows a lack of forward thinking on their part, but at least they are reacting to the situation instead of letting it get worse.

The problem is people see the word HIGH next to their server when they are making a new char and click "continue". Then bitch about waiting in lines.

Mal'Ganis has not has unscheduled downtime since i began playing 4 weeks ago.

The problem is server population, not anything with the servers themselves. They are talking about forcing splits and moving entire guilds to new servers.

Either I think your estimate is way off or I must be on one of those 15 servers. 99% uptime is pretty damn impressive and that hasn't been my experience thus far.

Is this one of those games that you buy and then have to pay a monthly fee to be on their servers, or is it a deal that once you buy the game you can go online free?

All the at capacity servers are having server problems. They need to expand their server farms, and break up certain zones.

That would be a stupid move on their part. They should expand the server farms for each server, and split up zones. IE: Certain zones now should be split up and run on different servers.

BS. EQ2 is a much bigger game, both in content and server population.

Beside, each server has a population limit, or projected limit, and when it reaches capacity, what they do is open another server. The problem isn't they're out of servers so they're overpacking each server, the problem is that they don't know how to properly load and balance the current servers. And infact, i think the problem is hyperbolize... i don't play WoW, but i know almost a dozen people that do, and they don't complain... or complain much.
