Looks like no one is interested here on Anandtech. I don't blame them. Having to pay for the game plus monthly is ridiculous. Game should be free if they are going to charge you monthly to play it.

Yeah well if you look at the card it's a 60 day plus the 30 you get with the game is $45 worth of play time. You get the game for $5-10, that's pretty close to free, if I didnt already own the game I'd jump on it.

OP may want to add it's a 60 day card and not a 30.

Doesn't Blizzard do an up to $30 rebate to bring the game total to $19.99? Or was that a limited time offer? If it's still going, that'd make the total $39.98 + tax.

EDIT: Nvm, rebate was only good through Jan. 1st

I agree. That said, this is probably the best deal you're going to find on WoW right now, so for people looking to jump into it, this is the way to go. WoW is an awesome game, addictive as hell, I played it for about 5 months before I managed to pull myself away from it for the sake of family, friends, and job. I play Guild Wars off and on now, which isn't nearly as deep and content packed as WoW, but is still a lot of fun and has no monthly fee.

As a side note on Guild Wars, word has it players will get an Auction House type system when or before Factions comes out in a few months. One of the biggest problems with GW IMHO is the difficult finding weapons, etc. without having to run through the streets yelling that you're looking for something. I'll be thrilled when they add a better way to Guild Wars, since one of the things I loved most in WoW was the AH system, made a lot of money there, and usually spent it just as quickly :).

$15 a month? You can get a whole game from the time WoW came out for $15.

I actually got a free copy of WoW, but I don't want to install it... afraid I might like it. ;)

Heh "I'm not going to try out that game because i don't wanna pay to play on servers with 15,000 other people simultaneously. That kinda bandwidth isn't expensive, i shouldn't have to pay"

The only way to make money as a MMO is to have a monthly. Guild wars is a good game, but at it's core a lot of people wouldn't call it an mmo - it's more like DII with a GUI bnet ;)

in a raiding guild i play wow about 10 hours a week. 40 hours of entertainment for 15 bucks a month - if only everything was that cheap ;)

granted WoW isn't perfect - but its fault isn't the 15 bucks a month :)

I started during Christmas and jumped in on the Best Buy $30 and got the 1st month free (comes with the game). I will also be getting $10 back from Blizzard because of the aforementioned rebate that has expired now.

I am about to pay for my 2nd month and onward and it's really worth the $15 (cheaper cause I'm paying 6 mo.). I used to complain about games that charge a monthly fee but this game is really worth it.

But if you're maxed out at 60 with very little left to do then I can see people's opinions about the $15.

Thanks OP. I bought WoW from a seller on these forums a couple months ago and got ripped off. My friend wants me to start playing the game w/ him, so I got in on the deal. Had a BB gift card to use too :)

Do they offer this deal in-store? Or do I have to order online? Because I can only pay by cash at the moment..

WoW is great if you know how to walk away from it :)

I have resigned myself to playing 4 hours a week or so, maybe more if I have a boring weekend... and it's entertaining and fun, and gives me something to do other than watch TV.

Besides, I have Tivo for that :)

i dont really find MMOs all that rewarding..completing repetitive tasks over and over in the hopes of gaining +1 to whatever attribute..i dunno..i used to like rpgs but honestly im beginning to feel that they are incredibly shallow..

I think the OP deal is great. You'd get enough game time to decide if continuing $15 a month was worth it.

It was out of stock at the store near me (Finley square, Downer's Grove, IL), but fortunately my credit card worked today so I ordered online.

I've been considering playing again after quitting back in the Spring. I played for about 6 months but got involved in other things and didn't have any time for it.

I decided to jump on this deal and ramp up for the expansion (estimated early July release).

It's fun, and easy to overdo it early on. Once the initial excitement (read obsession) wears off, my playing dropped dramatically.

BTW last day of the deal!

Where is the $10 off PC game offer and does it have to be WOW you buy in addition to the game card or can you purchase another game?

Seeing as this post was back in January, I'm going to guess the deal is no longer going on. ;)
