Hey everyone, I was wondering if there was a players guide in Japanese for my wife. I keep trying to explain gameplay and quests to her, but she doesn't understand my explanations, and yea I don't speak Japanese. I don't care if its on the web or if I have to buy it, but I really would like to get my wife addicted so she will understand lol, anyways thanks a lot guys!

Just find a Japanese website that explains the concept of an MMO. The underlying gameplay is basically the same for all of them.

Edit: BTW, you married someone who doesn't speak the same language as you? Or she doesn't understand your explanations in English?

Yes, my wife is Japanese and speaks English, and yea I'm having a hard time explaining gameplay mechanics to her. For example, she wanted to play a rogue, and I was explaining combo points, but she just didn't understand, and yea I don't think a cookie cutter MMO guide will suffice.

Mail order brides FTL

My wife is not a mail order bride jackass, before making assumptions maybe you should pull your head out of your ass. I met my wife while I was stationed on the USS Kitty Hawk, which is homeported in Japan. Go troll in someone elses thread.

Ah, stereotypical navy (I'm assuming) man who brings home a nice, foreign wife.

Anyway, there should be some out there. Not that I would know where...

If only your wife was Chinese, she might have found some good gold farming guides!

Have you tried just showing her in the game man? I think that would be the easiest way to show her the basics at least.

Sorry to disappoint, but Japanese gamers don't play WoW, they play FFXI. Chances of you finding a WoW guide in Japanese is about as slim as fbb getting laid by a female human being.

You need to think real hard, do you really want her to get addicted to this game?

Contact Blizzard and ask if they make WoW game manuals in Japanese.

On a side note my friend has recently convinced me to give wow a second try.

He is not your friend, he is trying to get you to play an addictive mmo. You do not want to play. It IS an addiction based videogame.

And ya, I think Aigomorla pretty much hit the nail on the head concering the OP's posts. Almost seems like your trying too hard to coax her into the WoW trap.

Having played WoW for a couple months now, I've been unimpressed by the addictive nature. Maybe it was all the hype, but I don't get it. To those of you posting about it, was WoW a uniquely addictive experience? Or do you tend to become obsessed with hobbies in general?

As far as I know there is no Japanese-localized version of WoW, which makes chances of finding a Japanese guide for WoW slim without knowing the language. They all play FFXI and RO anyways.

It's all about moderation. My wife's addicted to TF2.
;)

And sorry OP but I don't know where to go to get what you need, chances are the site would be in Japanese so I wouldn't be able to read it.

The world 'round, women are women. Simple logic ability (and driving ability, while I'm at it) is just not in their genetic code, there's nothing that can be done about it. Is she enjoying herself? If so I wouldn't knock yourself out trying to explain every little detail to her.

Here are a few Japanese links to get her started:

Starter guide:

Group guide:

Noob guide: (menus are English, but text is Japanese)

From the same site, Japanese translations of WoW-speak (which you won't find in a normal dictionary):

I think WoW is a lot more addicting if you are new to the MMO scene.
