You shouldn't be charged if you used your retail WoW cdkey to create your account, they will charge you 30 days after you created your account.

you'll have to choose a billing option when you first create your account (i.e. one month at a time, 3 months at one time), but you are given a free month regardless of what billing option you choose. if you want the free month, and only the free month, just choose the monthly billing option and cancel before your first month ends (30 days after you initially create your account).

which is kinda weird since you already paid 50-60$ for the game already.

they dont charge you for 30 days...

Why is that weird?
you think they gonna pay monthly bandwith fees and server maint and software development for the next 10 years on just the game cost itself?
this is Not battlenet.. or a peer to peer server system..
this is a Server/Client setup all the data is on thier servers all you get is a client and a password to access it.

learn about how MMOs work before you make yourself look dumb..

I wonder if their bandwidth/server/maintenence bill is really over $10million per month, since that is their revenue based on subscriptions alone.

I'm sorry you misunderstood my sentence. I have no qualms with the monthly bill. I was commenting on why you would cancel after the first month since this game is in short supply and you already invested 50-60 just to acquire it.

I read your reply the way you explained it. I agree. That is an extremely unusual attitude. I would think it would be more cost-efficient to try it out for a bit at a friend's or a gaming store.
