So my friend is trying to learn how to write mods for WoW and I deleted my folder when I quit playing however long ago. I established my account again and used the Blizzard downloader to get the game so that I wouldn't have to reinstall from the discs.

If I let it download all the way and then close the launcher, when I start the launcher again, it jumps back to the beginning of the "Yellow" level of playability and says I need to download 10.3 GB of data.

It's done this twice. My WoW folder is 14GB, so the stuff is there, somewhere. I'm running it as Admin.

Any ideas?

my guess is that it's still downloading updates. it finishes one, then you go to start it up, and it realizes it needs to get another

my wow folder is 21 gigs, you still got 7 more to go, most of it is the cata data that it predownloads i think

Well, it kept going from complete at the end of stage 3 to the end of stage 1. It turns out there's a bug in the "Play on demand" thing. WoW doesn't exit gracefully while the downloader is downloading, so it screws the downloader up and ruins any progress made since WoW.exe was started.

Brilliant.

Yeah, a lot of people have had the problem. Someone (not from Blizzard) posted the solution. I'm sure Cable One is highly impressed with me right now. I've also got to download a Debian ISO for my dad tonight. :p
