Anyone here have experience with the new generation of gpus from Nvidia and AMD playing World of Tanks?

I can't seem to find a review that includes this title... and since it is the primary game I play right now, I am interested to hear your experience.

I have a MSI 460 1Gb cyclone that is running at 850Mhz with a 3.6Ghz x6 PhenomII. I can run it at 1080p with high + medium foliage settings, but the fps dump when I snipe through foliage and other graphically intense situations. When I turn down some detail I get reasonable minimum FPS but then the game looks like garbage.

Looking for a ~$2xx gpu that could maximize my Tanking experience.

Thanks

WOT is CPU intensive, your graphics card is fine for that. If you want to see a performance increase, OC your CPU as the game only runs on one core (!).

The FPS dump can be fixed with some mods found on the forums... the geniuses at wargaming had the great idea of using a flash file overlay for your sniper mode. There's also a compressed texture mod but I've never needed to use it. I believe the smoke also causes lag, but I saw some fix for that in the mod forums as well.

Just a side note: You should turn down the foliage anyway, it adversely affects your sniping and doesn't actually give you cover. ;)
