There's no way in hell I would live my life trying to pay off $2mil for downloading 24 songs. I'd disappear, buy a sailboat, work for cash and sail the world.

Also, lol @ the pic.

I thought they sniped all the pirates? :(

And seriously people need to stop using that new crappy yahoo design and switch to the original version.

Even if she can't, you can't get blood from a turnip. It's highly unlikely she'd be able to pay that off even over twenty years, they'll probably just take everything from her (house, savings, car, etc) and write off the rest.

i read the article a while ago and i think it mentioned that even though RIAA won the verdict, they most likely wont seek payment as it will be a huge PR nightmare for them. but then again, I dont think RIAA cares about PR anymore at this point

It's perfectly fine to kidnap, rape and murder children, but it's totally wrong to share music. Got it.

That was an interesting read. So who here thinks they could successfully disappear? I'm not sure I could. If I could make it out of the country, maybe, but I don't think I could staying in the USA.

The RIAA really know how to win hearts and minds. Yeah, let's just ruin someones life for downloading an album. The punishment does not fit the crime at all.

If you compare it to a lot of other things it does really open your eyes. With that arson thread they were talking about wrongly accused death row inmates who were released and got like 50k a year that they were in. Some guy ended up getting paid 1.8 million.. which is still less than what that woman owes.
