World in conflict

Which combination would result in the highest FPS in World in Conflict?

E6600 with 8800GTX
or
Q6600 with 8800GTS (640mb)

the article on FiringSquad.com seems to indicate that the Game is very CPU limited. so would the quad-core make a big difference here?

I'll downclock my OC 2morrow, run the ingame benchmark with my 8800gts 320mb, then overclock it back up, and see if and how much it helps. Not tonight though, coz it's sleepy time, exam time, rebuild my pc into a new case time, then it's benchmarking time. That should answer IF the game is CPU limited. With a LOT of eyecandy in the game my first bet would be on the e6600 and a gtx. Even more so because I haven't got a clue wether WiC uses 4 cores or not.

That would be my guestimate also. It loves video card/memory and don't think a quad core would gain enough over a dual to push the GTS over a GTX.

Not sure honestly. I ran it at max resolution with nearly everything maxed, but shadows turned off on a E6600 + 8800GTS 640 without issue in the closed and open beta.
So I think either will do fine.

Preliminary results shows that WiC does need a decent amount of CPU power. X2 3800+ @ 2.0ghz showed avg of 24 fps, minimum of 9, and maximum of 64. X2 3800+ @ 2.5ghz showed avg of 32fps, minimum 12fps, maximum of 84fps. X2 3800+ @ 2.6ghz showed avg of 34fps, minimum 14fps, maximum 92 fps.

Big difference in AVG fps and MAX fps. Pretty sure all the calculations needed for the physics, like exploding bombs, bomb/bullet trajectory's really bring the CPU to it's knees. I've run like 6 tests sofar and it's pretty safe to say, that at 1680*1050 a faster CPU still yields extra performance, especially important because it also highers the MINIMUM fps. e6600 stock is a fair bit faster then a x2 3800+ @ 2.6ghz, but not by that much. c2d at 3ghz should do the trick. All we can do now is wait for more extensive benchmarking.

In the open beta, i had it on highest settings everything on, and turned dx10 on. I ran the benchmark and i was getting 15-20 FPS on average. This was before i had any drivers for dx10.

On dx9 the same benchmark if IIRC i had 20-30 as my lows.
im running on C2D 6400 8800 640gts. 2gb ram.
