LOL, they might not even make it out of their group. They still have yet to play the two toughest teams in their group. Then they would have to make it past Italy, Brazil, Germany, Argentina and maybe France...

hmm.. it COULD happen.. but im thinking its very very unlikely, but not impossible... and yes they are at home turf when they are in Korea, but when they're in Japan, well, they're in Japan.. I'm not sure if they actually have to play any games in Japan or not, but I know that when they are in Japan, its more than likely that they will be rooted against, just because Japanese and Koreans do not get along w/ each other too well...

Korea would have to play at least one game in Japan. The final game is held there.

well it is true,
my ex gf is half japanese and once the family went to japan to visit that side of the family and they had to land in korea before flying to japan. During that one day the father who is japanese didnt leave the hotel room because he was afraid of being beat up.

Yeah, I think they are still kind of sore over the whole Japanese occupation and their treatment of Koreans during that time period...

thank you czar for backin me up.... ya see bleeb, maybe over here in America Koreans and Japanese dont have a problem w/ each other because of their shared minority/asian bond... but once you're in their country, they really dont have any likings toward each other.... of course this is in general, there are always exceptions... but in general, they are very bitter towards each other...

czar...

it sounds like your ex's dad is paranoid more than anything.
i understand that there's a historical disinterest between korea and japan...
but i doubt that it's that bad.

Sure there is resentment from the older generation that was involved in the Japan takeover, but I don't think its as hostile these days... I don't ever recall hearing anything about floggings or beatings of Japanese in Korea.

I think there are other concerns that the Korean have more of a focus on... like Yellow Cloud from China, the Economy....WORLD CUP TITLE.

yeah you're right.. it may not be as bad as czar pointed out, but koreans are definitely more agressive when it comes to showing their dislike towards japanese than vice versa... from what ive picked up...

why would anyone be upset over being occupied and having parts of your history destroyed and being forced to learn a foreign language and being forced to change your names and having women rounded up and given to soldiers etc etc etc.

nah, koreans couldn't possibly be sore about that. it was what all of 60 years ago?

he had a reason to be paranoid, I think it was his brother or uncle who went to korea and was beat up just because he was japanese

the japanese have almost completely forgiven the incident at hiroshima in '45, also about 60 years ago.... of course there are still the very old that were alive during it that are still bitter about it, but in general, most Americans over there dont feel hostility nor resentment towards themselves...actually Japanese in general love Americans and are very curious and would love to learn English at any time possible.. they're also very hospitable, helpful, and kind.. sometimes they will go out of their way to find an english speaking japanese to help you with directions, or buying something, or ordering at a restaurant....
