I can't believe they hand the World Cup hosting to a developing nation. Now South Africa might not be able to get ready in time. Who's down to go to World Cup 2010 in Los Angeles/NYC/Miami/Houston?

Go USA!

Here? In THIS country?

I sure hope Brazil makes the finals. If they do and it's here in the US, I'll see it myself.

I went to a game at Giants Stadium. It was Morocco vs Saudi Arabia. I'd go again, but I think I'd try to get better tickets. :p

Hmmm...you'd have to think one would be China or India given their current growth? I would say Dubai, but it's too hot.

It would be a great boost to our economy. I'd definitely try to go see a match!

I was in Portugal when Spain won the Euro Cup a couple weeks ago (I was in Spain the day prior and for the semi-final...poor timing on my part I guess). It was still amazing though! Like being in New York when the Giants won the Superbowl. Actually, it was better than that.

Olympics in China already so scratch that, and no one wants to go to Commie Heaven for sporting events. No way India will possibly be able to hold matches by 2010 unless they hold them inside the Taj Mahal.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has spoken to three countries about hosting the 2010 World Cup if a natural catastrophe forces it away from South Africa.
In the form of riots. I knew SA would be a bad idea when they announced it, what with all the racial/religious cleansing, civil unrest, and rebel forces terrorizing over there, it's a scary ass place to be.

I hope this blows up in their face and they realize what a bad choice political reasons for a world cup are. Stick to the best venues on the continent please.

the continent of africa? there are very few good venues. they should just rotate it between the us, australia, europe, japan/korea, and possibly a south american country.

i thought South Africa is probably the top 3, if not the most developed country of that continent. (only Morocco and Egypt comes to mind)

I don't like how that article blatantly switches topics halfway through. Where do these retards learn how to write?

They added Africa when they started this whole continent rotation business and have since thought about rescinding it. I recall a while ago that France was first choice backup if the African bid falls flat as they already have all the big stadia.

England would be on that list but I think they'll bid for it separately anyway as there are some rules that need relaxed about having so many stadia so close to each other which rules out most of the London stadiums.

I saw Netherlands vs. Belgium in Orlando. Also had tickets to Mexico vs. Ireland (I think), but we couldn't get to Orlando in time. We ended up getting something like 20 free tickets for work we had done with M&M Mars.
