pushups

I do about 60 (in a row) a few times a week. Try 5 sets of 20 for a good foundation.

isnt that more so for arms?

pushups will help build your chest. not as much as bench pressing, but it's cheaper :)

try and see how many you can do straight.

No, it's chest city. My physical trainer roommate recommends them very much.

also try to vary the angle of your body, i.e. putting your feet up on sofa, or do pushup on the desk, with your feet on the ground.

You can do push-ups without any equipment. You can do a bunch with a regular bench and a pair of dumbbells.

Dips! Screw benching. Dips are the chest building king. All you need are two chairs. Lean forward to target your chest. If you don't, you'll be working your triceps instead.

If you're dead serious @ growing your chest, I highly recommend this book. It's got a ridiculous program in there that me and my friends did... well damn it was unothrodox, but damn we got big.

An original exercise in the book is a variation of a pushup. Start with a regular push up, throw yourself as hard as possible, into the air if you can. On your way down hold your position on the bottom as close as possible to the floor for 15 seconds. Repeat.

do wide and narrow width pushups, and do dips(helps tri's but also lower chest), but make sure when doing the push ups you do them slowly and hold the pushup at the bottom with your nose touching or close to the ground.
