Workout recommendation w/o the gym..

ugh

Platinum Member
Hi all,

The time has come for me to shape things up a bit 😀 Can someone recommend a workout strategy/routine to strengthen up the chest and abs without going to the gym?

TIA.

This was just covered yesterday

Look around for a thread about building muscles without weights or something like that.

Edit: Here

Go swimming... You won't add bulk but it will really help with definition. + it is my opion that having cut shoulders makes everything else look better pluss the swimmers "V" is something to strive for.

Thanks for the suggestions. Forgot to mention one thing though, the workout should be able to be performed in a room coz I do not have time to go swimming. Not everyday, perhaps only 2 times a week; not sure that's enough.

swimmers V? whats that?

Do pushups, three sets until failure (that is, until you can't do another. Then take a three minute break, and do incline/decline pushups (hands higher than feet [say on a chair]/hands lower than feet [say feet on a chair]).

There are about eighteen hundred things for abs. Do a couple of them every workout, again until you want to collapse.

Put whatever furniture you need together so you can do dips. If you can make a bar, do pullups.

If you can get freeweights, there are a couple dozen more options, but we'll leave that alone for now.

Two times a week is plenty if you work out to exhaustion.

How can pullup help with the abs?

The line break denotes a change in thought pattern; that is, the first thought is about pushups. The second thought is about abs. The remaining thoughts concern stuff that can be done for general upper body strength (presuming you want to "shape things up a bit," not just to get muscular man-boobs and a six pack 🙂)

What are some good lower body exercises to do w/o a gym? I do have weights. I assume squatting with weights helps something or another.

I do Taebo and some "dryland" type exercises. The Taebo does a great job on your
abs and legs (not to mention cardio fitness) and then I do some excercises with
barbells (and other things) to work on my arms, shoulders and stuff.

I agree with Azazyel, swimming will do a hell of a job on your upperbody.

What's Taebo?

Might be kinda weird but skipping rope is a great cardio exercise as well as building up your legs.

Upper body
Pushups, sprawls, chair dips, pullups, chinups, reverse pullups

Abs
Crunches, leg-lifts, side-bends

Legs
squat, bends, lunges, toe raises

Sex with many many women....different positions will give you different results. Have fun working out! (don't forget to wrap it)

At least the terms are easier to swallow (no pun intended) than Bally's contract. 😀

Taebo is a cross between aerobics, Tae Kwan Doe and boxing.

If it can work for Billy Blanks and Shaq, it can work for you!!!! 😛

Finally a decent answer 😀 Not that I didn't enjoy the previous ones!
