Working out....

Danman

Lifer
Well, my girlfriend and I decided to start working out so we can feel better about ourselves and look better. At our college here we have a brand new two story gym with everything we need from a mile long track to any kind of weight equipment. What would be a good start out workout for me? I want to tone my muscles and lose my man boobs. My girlfriend wants to lose about 5 to 10lbs. Any good comments about this? Oh, and she's worried that she can't fit it in her working and going to school. Thanks guys! 🙂

Don't go crazy with all that equipment and think you are Superman. Ease into it and find an overall routine that fits your schedule and intensity.

I'd probably mix up both cardio and some strength training (start slow with this since I assume you haven't been doing any).I myself find that 3 days of interval training (2 HIIT, 1 low/moderate), and three days of strength training per week is optimum. Read up. Don't limit yourself to geekfitness either, places like menshealth, etc. know what they're talking about (and even have some good plans for people just starting getting in shape) and even if you don't go with a plan they recommend, just reading about them should give you a proper idea of where you would like to start your own routine.

Yes i totally agree with dangereuxjeux. But to add something...remember that with loosing weight and adding muscle, its not only about hitting the gym 3-4 days per week. Your diet plays a HUGE role! There are a ton of diets that are out there. As long as your sat. fat intake is low and your protein and carbs are high (assuming your doing cardio and weight training a few days per week) u should see results.

On a side note...I was about 20lbs over my optimum weight (mostly from sitting at the computer 14 hours per day for the past 3 years) and I lost that weight in about 4 months with alot of hard work at the gym and a proper diet. If I can do it...im SURE you can!!!! Good luck!
