I've been asked to help tackle an interesting project. I'm trying to get build a portable 25ft x 15ft outside theatre screen. I know there are projectors that can handle a size screen like that, but where can I find them? Also, does anyone know where I can buy a screen that big, I know it needs to be custom, and I know a couple of places I can order it but I dont want to be dealing with a middle man if I have to. Basically, I just need help finding a projector that will suit my needs and a place where I can order rear projection screen.

Also, what would it take to broadcast the sound over a set FM frequency? I would need to be able to broadcast it across a whole field. Would I need any type of FCC license to do that, or would I be broadcasting in a small enough area that I wouldnt need a license?

I know some of you guys are into this so I thought I would post here.
Thanks for the help!

Build one. It will have to be a stable material to stand up with wind.

You only need a licence over a specific wattage. You can get a FM Modulator for $50 that would do the job.

We used to have an outdoor screen about that size for movies on the quad at my college. The screen was made from this stuff and the frame was PVC with a few stakes and guywires to steady it. Very easy to put up/break down. I can't remember the model of projector though.

I'm building the frame, its going to be on a trailer, and will fold in half for transportation. I just need the actual material for the screen. And I need something that can do rear projection.

This stuff looks good, but I really need something thats rear projection, but something like this looks like my best bet so far.

Here's one that would work, I don't even want to think about how much it would cost though.

I'll look into that, hopefully I can find something a little more economical :)

Anybody else got any ideas/help?

Thanks!

Are you sure you need/want rear projection? I was under the impression that most of this type of projection is FP. Any way, you may want to post this question over at www.avsforum.com. Lots of knowledgeable folks over there. In fact, I think I've seen a few threads related to large outdoor projection there.

yeah, most of the cheapest and most popular DIY screens are for FP, not RP...lots of talk about stuff you can buy from home depot, but I don't know what you'd use for RP. sorries. A bunch of tableclothes sewn together? :)
