The 'working' light for my PC keeps on blinking when I turn it on, but the PC won't turn on.

What could be the problem? What I did just recently was take out one of the RAM sticks and put it back in (I'm certain I didn't touch any other parts.)

"working light?"? not exactly sure what you are refering to there..I would try re-seating the ram again since thats the only thing you touched. Any particular reason you pulled the stick and and put it back in?

You might have a power led (usually green) and a hd (often red or yellow) led, but I don't know about a "working " light. Any fans fire up?

Is there any beep sounds? Does it go through the POST? Is there an alarm sound? Is the CPU fan firing up? It could be the cpu fan got disconnected and your mobo will not ran unless it detects rpm on the fan. But this is normally indicated with an alarm sound. Check the wirings make sure everything is connected and seated tight including the ram.

Reseat the RAM.
If both the power LED and HDD activity LED are constantly lit, then your RAM is not seated properly.
Well, that's what I've found from numerous experiences (4 or so when RAM was not seated properly, and countless where RAM was not working because it was overclocked, so wouldn't run and needed a CMOS reset).
Since you say you removed your RAM, I would say you didn't put it back in properly.

Thanks for all your helpful adivce and suggestions! :)

Okay, this is the current situation:

- I press ON button on PC
- Power green LED starts blinking, in intervals of about twice every second (so once every 0.5-seconds)
- fan turns on
- nothing else happens - there is no output on the monitor, etc.
- the only way to shut it off is to kill the power to the PC (flip off the switch at the back)

Any other ideas? There are no sounds, etc. coming from the PC. Also, the HD light doesn't turn on. Only the power LED turns on.

Have you tried any of our suggestions yet? Try turning it on with no RAM installed, and see if it beeps. Try dissconnecting anything that isn't neccessary, hard drives, optical drives, and PCI cards other than the video card..

Ok here is some basic undermining advice:

First of all, I think you can probably turn your computer off by holding the power button(in front) for 5-10 seconds, it's called Soft-Off I believe.

Check all your wires, might be a loose IDE cable to a drive or something.

Check the video card, it might not be locked in.

Make sure and check the little settings on your hard drive for master and slave, etc.

If you don't mind about 30 bucks send it to a local pc store to diagnose it(Ive never done this).
