Working Late Sucks.....

It's about 10:40 here, and I'm still stuck at work....and it looks like this story is going to be repeated over this week. This sucks.... and I'm just a freaking intern...gimme a break. I'm the only one in the entire building, and it's kinda weird to be surrounded by complete silence, compared to the normal bustling office.

But on the positive side, I get paid OT 🙂

And before anyone accuses me of getting paid OT to slack off, I'm in the middle of a simulation run, so there's nothing productive that I do till it's over.

Share your own late night working stories here...

Edit: I'm getting Brain dead to the point of not being able to spell my titles correctly, lol

I was going to work late cleaning up after my crew, but it's their job to clean up and they've repeatedly put it off. I left everything "as is" (meaning their mess) tonight and I'm going to give them hell tomorrow morning about it. I even made them a checklist for evening cleanup since to them "clean" means dropping what they're working on, signing out, and going home. I'm sick of staying late just to clean the lab, warehouse, and stock rooms up when they should all take the last 10 minutes of their day to clean up after themselves. The place is a mess and upper management isn't happy with me spending overtime just to clean up. Grr... :|

I used to work at a formal wear store in Baton Rouge (only for 1 year but that was enough). During Mardi Gras we worked for 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM and then came back to work from 8:00 PM to midnight. OT is awesome but damn...

at the theaters i will every now and then get stuck working till 1am... surprised i haven't got stuck closing (on weekends we lock our doors around 12:30, but closing is when the last customers walk out the door when the last shows let out, around 2:30).

Meh working in a hospital you'll get stuck on a 3rd shift from time to time. It aint bad at my hospital. Usually somewhat quieter at night. But only somewhat since we're a teaching hospital.

I work in a NOC in what I think is the perfect shift.
12 hour shifts, 7pm - 7am. Sun, Mon, Tue, and every other Wed.
I get a 3 or 4 day weekend, get to go out Thurs, Fri, and Sat, sleep all day, lounge.. it's great.

The job is in a NOC, and if it's a slow night, we watch flix on the big 'video wall'. Sound built into the room.. almost a theater.

No one in the building is GREAT.. I have one coworker at night, we have explored this building up and down. Done some crazy things here at night.

I don't know how I could work a 9-5 job anymore.

It's salary, not hourly.. but annual is above the 50's..we cover the opposite shift often, so last year I was in the mid 60's after all said and done.. but we do much more at night than just monitor. .. it keeps the toys coming 😉. .. and to think it's a pay cut from my old job.. but many reasons why I'm here now.
