workgroup help?

Hi.

I'm trying to get a printer shared on a 2 pc network, both are XP, and they are connected to a Linksys Router.

I've never used workgroups before, so this might not even be the right setup to use, but that's what im guessing is the way to do this.

Both PCs are on the same subnet etc

How do I get them in a workgroup? Assuming this is what will make the printer attached to PC A that is enabled for sharing show up in a add printer > browse network search that is done on PC B.

thank you

Welcome to the AT forums.

Its nice to have both PCs in the same workgroup but not mandatory.Start>right click on My computer>scroll down to properties> select the computer name tab >change

You will have make sure that the printer is Shared >> start>cp>printers>select printer - properties>sharing

On PC B > Start>cp>Printers>Add Printer>Add Printer Wizard>select networked p or attached to >>
If it is conncted by a usb cable - the setup is slightly different - select USB virtual printer port instead of LPT1<< You may have to take a look at the printer manual or mfg website on how to set this part up..
