Have yet to receive the HF100 (yay, tomorrow it is from B&H) but I'm preparing for an 8-day vacation where the HF100 will be first seen in action.
Will bring the laptop with me as well as a 500GB FreeAgent GO. I did get 5x 8GB Class 6 SDHCs for approx 5hrs of footage but want to make on-site copies immediately just in case. Went with the 8GB as that will fill up a DVD-R DL quite nicely as that's another form of backup I'm going to make once I get back home.
Now for my question. When you do backups of the footage from the SDHC onto the hard drive, what workflow do you follow?
Pls remember, I haven't seen the camcorder yet or any AVCHD camcorder, for that matter so I'm not familiar with what's stored in the SDHC other than what I've read.
I've read that there's a specific directory that can be copied manually onto the hard drive without using Pixela {is it true that Pixela changes the extension???}
Basically, my purpose is two-fold: 1-Create a backup and 2-be able to copy the clips back into the SDHC or camera for viewing later on. And if I want to copy back the clips to the camcorder, just make sure the SDHC is prepared by the camcorder and just copy back the directory? Which directory or directories are these?
Oh as for editing, I'm not thinking about it just yet but am leaning towards Vegas Movie Studio.
