Nevermind the original post if you looked at it. It made no sense.

My question is whether or not there is a way I can hook up my USB drive via ethernet connection without buying a new one that supports it or using another PC as a medium.

My original post was using the term "print server". It's the same idea, just not exactly what I meant.

You cannot connect to Ethernet Network a device that is Not Ethernet.

A regular USB Drive is Nor Not Ethernet compatible.

The Enclosures that can connect to directly to the Network have a NAS interface inside that make them Network compatible.

You can buy a standalone NAS and pug the Drive into it.
 
If you plug the USB drive into one PC and set the drive as shared you should then be able to access the drive over ethernet from other computers. It would be much the same as sharing a local drive.

I am currently trying this with no luck. The drive shows up on my network but is inaccessible. All other drives on the network are fine but not the USB drive. Any ideas on why that might be the case?

Check the permissions.
