Did you ever finish an important project for work, then discover a week or two later that you accidentally completely screwed up [bad copying error] the data for a small but vital part? Worse, that small vital part just happened to directly involve of all people, your boss & his work for a month.

How would you deal with it, besides apologizing profusely and trying to make corrections?

Sucks being a perfectionist & then screwing up for the 1st time in years...

Prepare your resume just in case. Write a detailed explanation of how you messed up, why you messed up, and how you will prevent it from happening again. Accept full responsibility and emphasize that you have resolved the situation that caused it and will put in extra time to make things right.

Deal with it as soon and as quickly as you can. It's a heck of a lot better than letting someone else find your mistake

I agree...hide the mistake from everybody then when its apparent there is a mistake blame it on the butler.....

Don`t sweat the mistake just hope the boss doesn`t tell you to bend over and grab your ankles...

Said person is human, I am assuming.

Sh!t happens. Any company worth working for knows that and has business plans to deal with delays.

You... er I mean, said person, don't have to get too hung up for it. A few days of feeling like a tard is enough to make the person be more thorough in the future.
