My boss was promoted to a VP position yesterday and will be returning to the office on Monday. Are you typically supposed to give them a gift of congratulations or is their new salary congratulations enough 🙂.

PS. This boss has been nothing but incredible to me and my fellow coworkers, so it wouldn't be a kiss-ass thing.
 
He have a particular brand of wine/booze he/she likes? You could pick up one of those and stick a little card on it saying congrats.

Ass kissing never hurts so long as it isn't over done.

i haven't ever given gifts, but i have taken people out for drinks.

i don't think there's a standard etiquette thing for this so it's up to you.
