Work Environment?

So what's your work environment? How much does it matter to you?

I tend to have desks at several different facilities at the same time. I have my own office at our main facility, and ussually share a cube other places. Doesn't seem to matter much, as long as the work is interesting and the facilities adequate.

I actually kind of liked working in a "bullpen" sort of environment. Really seemed to foster collaboration and communication, but might have just been the people & project more then the environment.

In some of the work I do, space is at a severe premium (classified facilities), so NOBODY gets an office. The I've seen O6s sharing a cube 😛

right now, short cubicles (you can see everyones heads and faces). depending on the work to be done, i may prefer something a little more private.

I had my "own" room (it doubled as the storage room) with a view of Lake Erie. I lost it when I agreed to transfer jobs (though I now make $3/hr more), and now I'm in a shared cubicle. Though the guy I share it with doesnt come in till 2PM, whereas I am in at 7AM.

EDIT: I really like to be on my own when I work. I hate having people walk behind me all the time, which happens when you are in a cubicle and the desk is facing the wall opposite the door.

I'm the front desk but my bosses are in cubicles not too far from where I am. Put in a front desk/reception/secretary environment

You realize your the guy that gets nailed first by the terrorists ala Die Hard 😛

In a room with 6 cubes all with openings towards the center of the room. No one can really see each other luckily (b/c all I do is surf ATOT) since we're all facing the wall but when people go to the bathroom across the hall or the guy in the corner of the room turns his head 45 degrees, they can see my screen 😱

I'm the opposite.. all the guys are in the middle of the room about 2m apart, and we all look outward. If you turn your head around you can see everyone else's computers....

Thankfully ATOT looks like coding, so none the wiser 😉

I don't know what I'd call this as it's my first office job, but we don't have cubicles. It's a room, with six desks, not in a grid pattern tho (so I don't think it's bulldog).
