Work at 4:30 in the morning should be outlawed.

I just changed jobs and I've been getting up at 3:30 in the morning. I have to meet guys at 4:30 to get to the job by 6:30.
We're working 7 10's and yesterday I swear I passed myself going to work while the other me was going home.
My ppd is suffering and I still haven't finished building my computer I started two weeks ago.

Doesn't it suck when your career gets in the way on your personal life?

At least Christmas will get paid for. 🙂

I know exaclty how you feel. Why can't they just pay me for staying home? I get paid for breathing anyway!! 13 hours night shifts (1900 - 0830) suck. Oh, and thanks for the bumpage. 🙂

I know how you feel. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Maybe look for a different job?

I asked if they'd just mail the checks.
They said "no fvckin way".

I'd never have a job that required me to be there at 4:am. I'd never have a job that would not allow me to take a week off, at will. 😉

So you are working 7 10's? So you get no time off at all?

I know how you feel, before I started school I had to get up at 4am and didn't get off till 3:30pm.

For once in my life I actually have it better than somebody! (Well you know, obviously I've had it better than like 5.5 billion people my whole life, but that's irrelevant.)

I work weekend nights. 7PM to 7AM, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Yes, 36 hours (although it comes out to about 38 or 39 since I try to get in a little earlier and leave late to provide an effective shift hand-off). I get paid for 40 hours even if I do the bare 36; overtime counts for the full amount that I work overtime, I don't have to fill in the extra 4 hours first. Also get a shift differential in the hourly rate.

I love this shift, even disregarding the 4 hours I don't have to work.

Watch out for the "Sensitive" Mods! Anyways, I get up at 2-230am every morning. Have done so for the past 12 years and I am pretty much used to it. I get to bed around 10pm and usually I am able to get a small nap in when I get home(11 am) Because after that, its off to the races watching my 3.5 yr old and my 4 month old, until 7pm when the wife finally gets home. Hectic as all hell, but I wouldnt trade it for anything.

Peace

Lounatik

Been there, done that. I used to work from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. for a year. I kinda like it. Quiet and not much phone calls. Just do the job and surf the net at night.

🙂 Ain't it grand. One more hour to go... And then two more 13 hour shifts to go this weekend.

We've got 3 shutdowns going simutaneously right now, Darty.
Conemaugh, Seward, and Homer City generating stations.
They're all running around 7 weeks at 7-10's and the bench is cleared.
Want a job???

Bank?
I'm paying for Christmas, and I'll finally get that plasma I've been waiting on. 🙂
There's enough in the coffers to keep me in old age. 😉

I know how you feel OP....I know how you feel. I've told my boss that I can't work like this forever and he keeps piling and piling it on. I finally said screw it yesterday and took off early and refused to work today and tomorrow. He called sucking up wanting me to go with him and his kids to a scrimage basketball game but I didn't answer. Good luck OP....I feel for you. 🙁

*sigh*

We did 7 x 12s for 5 months straight a few years ago...4PM to 4AM...

kind of strange not seeing the wife for 5 months😛

We share a ride.
It takes about 1 1/2 hours to get to work. We generally get there about a half hour early and have a power nap before go time.
