Words of advice to someone who is depressed from studying?

My friend is depressed from studying all the time, she is a law student.

What should I say to cheer her up? I'm not good with words, so I don't know.

She says from 9AM to 11PM, she is always at the library and just looks outside the window sometimes.

Take her out for a drink one night she can spare a few hours of sleep.

Ask her how depressed is she going to be when she is flipping burgers or asking if people want banana bread with their lattes?

Well, it's got to be worth it for her or she needs to move on. We all willingly pay our dues for our chosen field.....it just so happens that the more money and power the field offers the greater the dues.

If she goes to work for a Big Law firm, that's the same schedule she'll working once she graduates. If she opens her own practice, she'll be broke and living off Ramen noodles for quite awhile. For most law students, it probably isn't worth it.

Edit: If she's suicidal though, by all means tell her it will be worth it.

It sounds really, really weird, but just listen to me for a second.

You dressing up like a clown and surprising her at the library could either end very badly or awesomely. We're going to go on the assumption it ends well.

Taking the time to dress up like a clown shows her that she has a friend that cares about her enough to make an absolute fool out of himself, probably in front of several hundred people he doesn't know, with the sole intention of trying to brighten her day. Also gives her a great story to tell her friends. Since it is a library, I might consider going with a mime costume and acting something out.

Some women eat sh!t like this up. Other women get so embarrassed or upset that it ruins your relationship. Choose wisely

well, not a full-blown clown suit, just the "face" part - white make up, clown hat, and that funny nose thing. and then I hold a sign said "Don't worry, be happy."

it was very late at night, so there's not a whole of students in the library, which minimize the fear factor.
