How about an actual dictionary:
Origin of RHINOCEROS
Middle English rinoceros, from Anglo-French, from Latin rhinocerot-, rhinoceros, from Greek rhinokerōt-, rhinokerōs, from rhin- + keras horn — more at horn

Origin of OCTOPUS
New Latin Octopod-, Octopus, from Greek oktōpous

Origin of PI
Middle Greek, from Greek pei, of Semitic origin; akin to Hebrew pē pe

All three of those are Greek in origin.

Any word with a Latin root that ends in a -us should be pluralized to end in i.
For example, anus should become ani. It is just rarely done.
