Wordpress 3.4 + Twenty Ten; dropdown menus not working?

I'm working on a modified Twenty Ten theme. Trying to tweak our menu to have several dropdowns. Setting up the parent-child relationship works fine in Appearance - Menus, but when I refresh a browser tab on the homepage, it starts a new line at the end of every parent-child relationship instead of nesting the children like it should. This results in me having a 3-4 line navbar instead of a navbar with some nested options.

Sorry, would rather not post anything specific. Also, yes, I know I need to update to 3.6. We're in the process of getting a test site set up for update testing. Hopefully we'll be migrated in a week or two.
