Like, "Say hi to your mom for me." It might imply that the speaker has had relations with your mother.

Its like "Earth to _____". You're not exactly in some kind of space ship sending messages to ____. Its a form of expression.

What exactly does that ebonic expression mean?

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=word+to+your+mother

Come on people, you can get better results doing your own research.

Urban dictionary is completely and thoroughly unreliable as a reference source. A gaggle of middle schoolers are a better source than UD.

It is not to be used as a formal resource search for sure, but using an ape's researching comphrehension you can figure out the meaning from that page.

Aren't you a middle schooler yourself?

Only an ape would even bother with dis-information. Is that you? Oh yeah, you better show up @ 3:00PM after you get out of middle school for your ass whoopin'!

Now that the party is jumping
With the bass kicked in, the vegas are pumpin
Quick to the point, to the point no faking
Im cooking mcs like a pound of bacon
Burning them if theyre not quick and nimble
I go crazy when I hear a cymbal
And a hi hat with a souped up tempo
Im on a roll and its time to go solo
Rollin in my 5.0
With my ragtop down so my hair can blow
The girlies on standby, waving just to say hi
Did you stop? no -- I just drove by
Kept on pursuing to the next stop
I busted a left and Im heading to the next block
That block was dead

I  the 80s.

"Word to the mother" is something that black guys used to say back in the 1980's, making reference to their roots in Africa.

Vanilla Ice hung around lots of black guys and tried to imitate them. He didn't know what it meant and didn't even get it right, changing it to "word to your mother" which he then repeated like a broken record player.
