Word processor chronically unstable

I am using the Word Perfect 12 word processor. The OS is XP.

While working on documents, I am routinely getting the message that the
program has become unstable, and I have to close.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program a couple of times
and still I have this problem.

Is this necessarily a problem with the program, or does this indicate a
hardware problem? (I have replaced hard disks on this computer before).

Every other program including Word 2003 runs fine.

Any help would be appreciated.

hi, when you uninstall/reinstall, is the folder that you install wordperfect to "non existent" or "empty" by you manually removing the folder or renaming it? if you dont move that folder out of the original location or delete it, it may not install like new when you do a reinstall of the program, it may just see it's files there and say "ok its installed." which will cause the problem to continue.

The uninstaller did not remove the folder, so I had to do it manually. After that, I tried
to install it again, and everything seemed OK - but still this error message -"WordPerfedt 12
has become unstable".

its possible registry settings for it are causing it or something else, windows would need to be reinstalled to figure it out.
