Word is being dumb

A little while ago i got this message that said auto recovery saving was being postponed(or something like that). Now it won't let me save the document i'm working on. got any ideas on what is wrong?

Have you tried to enable the auto save feature again??
If you are not sure of where that is go to tools/options/save/check the last2 items, Hope this was of some help
 
Try to save your file under a different name, if this fails, select all, copy and paste into a different file and save under a new name. Then reset your computer.
 
This problem is common if you use 3. part programs when using Word.
If you for an example use an Exel diagram or a formula in Microsoft Equation Editer, this might very well be the source to your problems.

I usually find the corrupt part - and delete it. Then it works again.

To find a corrupt element, click on all of the mentioned above cases. If you get an error back, then this is it.

This is my own experience and its very likely not to be the problem in your case, just thought you should know.
 
I haven't been able to save it under any name with any method in word that i can think of (all three of them)

Terrier: tried that but they were already checked

What version of Word are you using? What format are you saving to?

What's the particular error message you're getting? After trying to cut/paste the data into a new document and saving?

Are you able to create a new version of the document? (File>Versions...)

Ladi: sorry i forgot to say its word 2000, and the standard .doc format. The only error messge i've gotten was the first one. Now if i click on the save things nothing happens.
 
don't have word at all now, let alone 2000
but there's no way to go into preferences and click default?
just asking
