Okay my wife saved some passwords and poems and other word docs to a CD. Now when she tries to open them, they are being opened as Windows Media files. I already tried going into the D drive properties, and changed it to prompt what it is to open under, but they still open as WMV files, and therefore cannot be viewed...HELP

I'm not quite sure (I knlow that doesn't really help!), but all she did was highlight the files and click copy these files, then write to cd. Not sure what extension files have...How do I find out? On the cd, they look like regular folders until opened, then look like music files.

open my computer, go to tools, folder options, view tab, and uncheck the "Hide extensions for known file types" box, then hit OK. Now you should be able to see what type of files they are saved as.

It worked. Had to copy all written docs from MS Works Word Processor to Notepad. Not too hard, then I unchecked that box thingamagigy thing, and recopied to CD. The problem was that neither of my new PC's have MS Works. Thanks for the help.
