Word 2010 - unable to print

Sometimes I just hate microsoft products.

Word 2010 - Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup.

What i tested
- excel/powerpoing/outlook - prints fine
- notepad - prints fine
- sent to local usb and remote network printers both are printing fine
- restarted local print service just to make sure

Did a runas administrator and launch word in another memory space, prints fine, tested printer, adobe, onenote printing.

So its just the current user in word unable to talk to the printer system.

Waiting for the user to come back and save the stuff so I can exit word and see if its just word getting something stuck in memory..

Not a print driver issue
Not a registry issue
Not a printer port issue
Dont think its a windows printing subsystem issue

What else can I try

Have you checked the printer settings for the document the user is trying to print? The user may have selected a setting that is outside of the printer's capabilities, such as printing double-sided when it's not a duplex printer.

Does not even get to that, once you hit file -> print -> error pops up. I tried on new document with the word test on 8.5 x11 normal page.

Tried defaulting the printer to adobe, onenote which doesn't care about duplexing

Sounds like the Word software installation may be screwed up. Have you tried to do a repair of the MS Office software install?

Word must be crappy. the user save all word and allow me to work on it.. 4 word docs opened and closed. Exit & Relaunch word = able to print. I didn't even need to do a repair.. i guess i gotta load up filemon/regmon next time to see where this thing is failing.

kinda sucks as.. always nice to figure out the core problems and not patch things

In word, go to 'File' tab, from the dropdown select 'print'.
Check the settings
