Everytime I get near the end of the page and start a new paragraph, it always bumps it down to the next page, leaving a couple lines worth of empty space on the bottom of the previous page.

How do I get it to NOT do this?

Edit: What...? I kept tying for a bit more in the paragraph, and it moved back up to the previous page (part of it, at least)...

On the Paragraph section of the Home ribbon, click on the small icon in the bottom right corner to bring up the Paragraph options dialog box. On Line and Page Breaks, I believe you want to disable Widow/Orphan Control, which automatically adjusts the pagination to prevent single lines from ending up on one page.
