Word 08 + Spaces = UGH

I really, really hate how Word 2008 does not confirm to Spaces or Spaces' preferences at all. I have Word set to always be on Space 2 so it can be my "work space"... it ALWAYS jumps around, comes back to space 1, sometime sa dialogue box will be in space 1 but word on space 2. Sometimes the blinking CURSOR is on freaking space 1 and i can type but not see anything and all the data and text is on Space 2.

UGH. WORD, YOU SUCK. And whats worse is I know this will never be fixed.

Cliffs:

1) Word 2008 doesn't work with Spaces.
2) Never has, never will
3) FAIL all around.

Uh, that's it.

Except that I have read Pages is AWFUL for anything to do with Word documents. Seeing as most of the world uses .doc and now .docx (which is even Worse) I need a program that can handle that perfectly.

BTW does Pages come with a CD key when you buy it or is it like OS X in the sense that it uses no CD Key?

So has anyone by chance figured out a way to make Word 08 conform better to spaces. Any hacks, etc? Just wondering... sorry about my rage filled post earlier I've just been dealing with Word 08's crap for so long and today when I had like 7 windows open It broke my patience. 😛

I don't do complicated word pages (I find word sucks for anything complicated anyways so I use adobe products). But I have not had any problems saving as .doc in iWork or openoffice. And noody at my workplace has complained about problems.

Yea.. you won't have any issues when you create documents. I've only had issues when I try and view other people's stuff, and even that's been rare.

It's called OpenOffice. Version 3.0 supports .docx and now runs natively on OSX. No more X11 garbage.
