i paid $350 for my 2x2x6 hi-val back in the day. and it ALWAYS gave me buffer underrun errors at 2x... so i had to burn everything at 1x... which helped a little. i've boycotted hi-val ever since. man how times do change...

Yeah Spanky, I bought a SmartandFriendly 2x CDRW in the day, and the POS wouldn't burn worth a crap. Amazing how far we have come in 4 years. I was able to turn it from a doorstop back into a JVC CDRW, albeit still 2x with some help from the web. It's in my Sister's machine right now and seems to work fine under XP. Go figure. All you need to do is wait 4 years for support...

My friend bought an 'early' Acer and it only worked for about 1 month... he would buy cdr's and just keep returning them... hundreds of them... I finally looked and it and broke it to him that his burner was no longer burning...

R.I.P. Acer... you ruined a bunch of people on new technology.
