Adding a decent AGP card will be around $150, another 512MB (assuming it came with only 1 stick of 512) runs around $40, you're looking at a $600 mid-range gaming rig, which isn't too bad. Not exactly "hot hot"

There is an Emachine T6212 (recently bought by Gateway) that is also refurbished at Tigerdirect. It is on sale now at about $400 but shipping is a hefty price at about $40+.

I believe that it has a socket 939 with an AMD Athlon 64 3200 as well as a PCI-Express slot but you might need to replace the power supply in order to run the high end power hungry cards.

Emachine @ Tiger Direct: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications...tails.asp?EdpNo=1576696&Sku=E400-T6212

Motherboard for T6212 (I think)

I just sent my brother this link. Good find!

Nice first post by the way. And welcome to AnandTech! 🙂

That TD eMachines link has a tech details tab that shows it as a s754, but indeed with a PCIe (x16) slot.

I was guessing that 2000Mhz FSB were only for the 939 cpus. I thought that 754's could only reach 1600Mhz.

According to the description, this is also the first gen NF3 chipset, no tthe 250gb that is currently being used. It's not quite as fast and had a lower HT speed I think.
