Yup I passed the 70-290 exam today. It was the first try :) I was pissed cause I thought I failed it. Then I looked up after waiting on the computer to catch up after processing the exam and it said I passed. Sweet

Goin for the 70-270 Tomorrow.

EDIT: 2/21/07 - I Passed the 70-290 with a perfect score 1000/1000 in 15 minutes lol I walked in took the test and walked out lol.
On Saturday I'm going for the 70-291 :)

Congrats! It's a long exam.

I passed the 290 just last week. The 270 should be OK if you did the 290, though I actually got a lower mark for it! I'd say read the course amterials through a couple of times + make notes of all the bits you're not 100% on, then just keep working at those past papers and example questions. They help more as they highlight tricky areas you might not have considered before.

I hated the simulations in the 290. Apparantly the 291 is the mega-nightmare that people tend to fail.
TBH I'm only working towards the MCSA at the mo... is it a few more exams on top to get the MCSE?

The 270 wasn't too bad, although the questions took a bit different of a slant that I imagined they would. I have voucher codes to take two more Microsoft tests before June, but I haven't decided what those will be yet.

Thanks Hjo3. It was 1 am before I posted it and wasn't thinking. I'll correct it later.

290 is on Managing and maintaining a Windows 2003 Server
270 is on XP

I think I'll do ok on the XP exam, I'm not looking forward to 291 Windows 2003 Infrastructure

So, exactly how difficult was the 70-290 exam?

How did you go about preparing for it?

What is your real world experience like?

To tell you the truth I didn't think I passed. lol

My company said they wanted me to have it so they sent me to a bootcamp. I figured it's not too bad as long as I come out of it with two things. 1. my certs 2. more knowledge than when I came in with.

About 50% of it, I had seen before through everyday IT scenerios. The other 50% I've never seen before and had to study like crazy. :)

I'll fix the title later (something's wierd with IE so I can't have popups, lol no it's not a pop up blocker) I'll fix it when I get back to the room. It was late.

I'm planning on getting my MCSA:Security cert and then the MCSE:Security cert. I've already taken the 70-270 for my MCP (it was easy I got a 984/1000).

I'll be taking the following tests in this order: 70-290, 70-291, 70-227, 70-299, 70-298, 70-293, 70-294.

That way, when I finish 70-299, I'll have my MCSA:Security, and when I finish 70-294, I'll have my MCSE:Security. I'll be taking a test every two months, and I plan to take the 70-290 at the end of April.

My employer will pay for the exams, and they already provide online training courses.

Do they still have websites with all the answers to the tests? braindumps is what I believe they were called.
