Well after a few posts, questions and lots of deliberation - For now I have ordered an X2 6000+ AM2.
Reason really came down to cost and not wanting or needing to go PCI-e yet due to my more than capable Gainward Bliss GS 7800+ 512mb AGP card.
So I was severly limited on mobo choice, and just as limited on overclocking options.
I punted for the Asrock 4CoreDual-SATA NF3 mobo, as it will run the 6000+ natively at 3ghz. I would have been lucky to make 3ghx out of the limited overclocking ability of this board with a C2 Duo.
So its cost me £143 for the CPU / Mobo, for which I already have 4gb of PC-2 6400 C4 OCZ mem & Vista 64 at the ready.
The CPU I wanted, even with Intel price drops was £197 alone, without considering the limited Asrock Intel board.
So its AMD for me, at least until Crysis arrives. My current PC is dead as the mobo has nuked itself. So it was more a fix than upgrade. Will let you know of benchies when its delivered and running.
If anyone wants to buy a 4400+ X2 2mb let me know, also got 2gb of GEiL DDR 400 up for grabs.
