No Really they are infected with something. When I open my browser and go to only that sight or even do a refresh on that site this is what I get.

McAfee is the trojan. They're the ask.com of security software, where they've started bundling their product with legitimate downloads since they can't handle the market based on merit. I wouldn't trust anything their software told me, and wouldn't allow it on any of my machines. If it's a work box I guess you're stuck but you can just treat it's notifications as you would the schizophrenic guy on the street corner yelling shit at everyone.

what a piece of junk. I could make fun of people's security measures all day.

MSE is actually a really good free AV program. I've been using it exclusively, along with only the Windows firewall, with no harm whatsoever. I take risks on the web but I've avoided serious problems for quite a long time now, and I used to have worse results when using various other free AV suites.

That's not even what I was getting at. Way off topic here but discretion on the internet should account for 80% of your anti virus. The rest is the unpreventable drive by tracking cookies or what not.

Simple things like not opening exes, using a cloud based anti-vir and using virustotal.com can spare your processor quite a few cycles.

Since when did our super fast quad core processors have issues with anti virus softwares? Shitty AV software slow down computers because they scan every folder you're accessing and thus using your slow ass hard drive way more than it needs to.

It's free, but it's not really good, it's not even really good for being free. I would put Avast, AVG & AntiVir all over it. And they all have free versions. I don't understand how people who are computer savvy can say anything good about MSE. It's a piss poor program I wouldn't run is MS offered me money. The only positive thing I could say about it is it's better than no protection.

Another vote for MSSE. Has performed flawlessly for me on several computers for a long time now. I have no complaints and would recommend it.

???

AVG is now terrible, has been for a while.

Avira is okay, but is mediocre to poor with spyware, and is annoying with popups/interface.

Avast is dogshit honestly, though the sound effects are funny.

MSE is the best freebie. Honestly. It sucked for a while, now it's decent. Maybe, like AVG, it will go in the shitter, but things change anyway.
