Help Desk supporting a new software package rollout for a mortgage company! $17 hr. Bout time... I was thinking I'd have to work at friggin MickeyD's.

Seriously, no college, no certs, but years and years of experience. Been doing desktop and help desk since '95. Been messing with puters since the Commodore 64 days...

Oh, and I live in So Cal... They HAVE to pay more to live here. heh

Yeah, I know. I actually started for my MCP in Win2k, but the classes sucked a$$. They took my money and didn't teach crap. They were just trying to get me to pass the test. :| Like, what student actually wants to LEARN anything. Sigh.

Right now, I'm glad I didn't... This company doesn't want certified pros on their help desk. So, start, THEN take classes. heh

It's funny you say that. In the past when interviewing for jobs I have been told several times that I wouldn't be hired because they don't want people with certs. They claimed that certified people won't just follow the scripts/instructions without trying to improve on them. Go figger. All the time and $ I spent on getting multiple certs and they kept me from getting jobs.

Could not disagree more, I work in the IT field and the majority of people I work with don't have a college degree, they just know their SH!T backwards and forwards...they also clear 6 digits a year.

I just got a computer job too - I'm gonna supplement my DPS income by working at the Fishbowl (a big glassed-in computer lab here at the U of M's Angell hall) as a Sites Consultant. My post count should increase very much starting next fall.
