$500+ of that went towards my own christmas present (HD595s) and textbooks. The rest went towards getting a new toaster oven for my apartment (because it doesn't have an oven) and buying other kitchen related shit.

In other words, I am poor and my parents gave me money for shit I actually needed not wanted, which was not their intent originally. (It was supposed to be a gift for me, not for utility)

Well, textbooks are expensive and justified, claiming you're poor when you bought a pair of Senn HD594s is stupid. (and don't claim I don't know about decent audio. I have a pair of HD580s and a nice amp.)

I'm also really confused on how you blew $500 on kitchen stuff. $50 toaster oven and shopping at Ikea/Costco and you'll spend $200 max. Unless you're stupid and bought $400 in knives/pots/pans or a Keurig/espresso machine. Spending a good amount on that stuff can be justified if you have a job, but buying yuppie kitchen stuff in college is a waste.

Well I got those headphones under the assumption it wasn't going to be taken out of my $1000 (because I was buying them myself and then getting paid back) but... that wasn't the case. If it was, wouldn't have bought them.

The toaster was this toaster: http://www.amazon.com/Breville-BOV80...4353004&sr=8-1 It's about $280 after tax. It's a nice toaster. It gets the job done. If I am living in this place for a few years(3+ years) without an oven(and not going out to eat), I need a nice toaster to bake shit in. I tried another toaster before this that I got for free from the parents but it was shitty. (It was the typical toaster oven you might suggest) This one cooks my pizzas well.

I spent like $50 on kitchen pots+pans (8/10 piece set or something) that were on sale and then spent like $50 on knives that were on sale as well.

I had to buy some cheapish measuring cups(sale), scissors(sale), and then I got a couple splatter guards because they were part of the sale thing(buy 2 things on sale, get one free). Idk, I bought some other stuff I am sure. General household stuff that is.

I have to go buy a couple lamps here soon though. It's way too dark. Also need to find a table on craigslist.

You're like many "poor" people who don't have money because of incredibly stupid decisions. You didn't need an oven that will last 10 years. You needed an oven that will last through college. Buying the top of the line anything (especially headphones) is incredibly stupid when you are short on money.

You still haven't said why the place doesn't have an oven since either you're living in a complete shit hole, a dorm type place, or some guy's garage.

I bought a 75 dollar panasonic oven like 5 years ago for college and it worked perfectly fine for whatever I wanted to make in it. I also guarantee I used mine a lot more than you did for more complicated dishes.
