where are you quitting? if its a grocery store I would just tell your boss your situation and tell them you quit... make sure you give the 2 week notice though so they can fill the position, no need to be a dick...

BEAST, its not a grocery store, its an engineering firm. got me a new job on DOTD as an intern. who said anything about being a dick?

AMD, like i said, i'm not good at this, that's why i'm asking for help. i did not mention doing something rude, did i? besides my boss is so good to me, it just happens that i have a family to support that's why i'm looking for a greener pasture.

I'd walk into my bosses office and tell him.
why do you need a letter?
just talk it over with him.. so much turnover where i work, i get to see this all the time... they almost always just walk in there and tell the boss. he's a nice guy, he always takes it in stride.

I didn't say you said anything rude, just saying don't go out rudely like some people were saying. Explain it in a letter and leave in on your boss's desk. Be straight foward how you need more money for your family and there is a better chance of further promotion with your new employer.
