Woot, free cable upgrade.

AT&T called me with a special promotion to upgrade my cable to digital cable with free HBO, Showtime, Cinemax or TMC for $39.00 a month for three months with free installation (no coupons this time to send back, I checked and double checked) and no contract. That's only $4.00 a month more than I am already paying.

Around here (Columbus Ohio) I have heard that digital cable was actually horrible. I know that several people have tried it and gone back to the original.

I have digital cable and I have noticed some color banding in wide shots in many different movies, it is slight but noticeable, sort of like looking at a .bmp with 16million colors on a monitor set to 256 colors.

sometimes it takes too long to tune the channel, and the other night it kept locking up, like pausing a DVD.

Digital is not worth it, we're cancelling ours in a few weeks. Too much money going to Time Warner, considering we get road runner.

We have Comcast digital cable and the selection of channels is amazing. I can see a difference in picture quality over the analog service. The best part of digital cable is as soon as they started the digital TV service, they also rolled out Internet service. I average 1.2 MBps down and 640K up.

I got rid of my digital cable also, went back to expanded basic, while supplying my own box. 😉
I also have broadband through them, and I agree with whoever said adding digital is way too much money to be giving them.
Much better deal imo.

ScottyB, if you cancel it, they might try persuading you to stay a customer by offering you extended discounts. 😎

Well I would be cancelling anyway because I am on a budget, but if they offer me it for longer I will snatch it up quick 🙂

there is AT&T cable in Columbus, OH?!😕

I only knew of TimeWarner, WideOpenWest (reccomended for the price), and Insight.
