After about 4 hours of down time, I got my free 6mb\384 upgrade.

The BroadbandReports speed tests were down, so I used SpeakEasy's.

I'm actually very surprised it got here so quickly. Wasn't expecting it for a few more weeks. Especially considering the news article was posted less than 4 days ago. :Q

Downstream upgrades are always appreciated, but I wish they'd up the upload speed cap a bit 🙁

Is 6mb the new basic package? If so are they upgrading the people that have 6mb for an extra $10 right now?

They are upgrading everyone with the standard package to 6mbp. For $10 more, you go to 8mbp. But to me it's useless if your upload isn't on par with the download. If the down is 6mbp, the up should be at least 600k.
 
oh my word what the hell do you need a 6Mb connection (dont mean you just in general) although i wouldnt complain, i have a 2meg and its just fine i wouldnt need it to be any faster .. you must have download limits on that tho ??

Not officially. I've heard of people getting letters about it, but the only way you could hit the download limit that allegedly doesn't exist would be to have an uncapped modem or to have the connection going full speed 24\7\365.
 
Right now I'm paying 52.95 for 6/768. Per whats posted at broadbandreports.com, since I just got the basic tv package, I'm only going to get 6/384 with the upgrade for 52.95. That sucks.

UK connection sucks 🙁 .. i have a 15GB download cap @ a 2Meg connection .. which i will never reach but still ... 6Meg connection uncapped = 😀.. what is the cost for that like against a 2 meg in the US

UK connection sucks 🙁 .. i have a 15GB download cap @ a 2Meg connection .. which i will never reach but still ... 6Meg connection uncapped = 😀.. what is the cost for that like against a 2 meg in the US

let me refrase that .. we do not have the tech for 6Mb in the UK, as fibers have been laid down for about 2 years now (in certain areas) unlike the US i beleive which has had that technology longer

P.S i was recently upgraded from 768 to 2meg 😀

LOL .. 2meg is the best connection that you can get in the UK, except for commercial companies
