woops ducting mod doens't fit

I bought one of those plastic ducting mods that thermaltake makes for my Athlon XP 2400+ & SLK-800 without thinking. Just a warning to others, it doesn't fit on this heatsink, mainly because the fan is attache by clips and not screws. Unfortunately, my wife's computer also has an SK-7, but luckily, I've got a thermaltake volcano 7 on my server so I did get to use it after all. I just wanted to warning others of making the same mistake.

Yeah I can see where it screws into the old fan mounting holes, where as the sk's are all mounted using wire brackets...

You could bend the wires, but it would be risky. If you look for the mod where you hollow out a fan and put it under the fan you're using to create a "tunnel" you can see how that person bent their clips to make something similar work.

FYI...i tried that....didn't make one bit of difference.

I'm thinking about trying this, but I probably won't end up doing it. I currently have my xp2400+ running at a cool 43-48C. There really isn't any reason for me to try getting it lower, besides being obsessed.

I was going to try it, I even hollowed out an old fan, but I didn't like the way the clips fit on and I didn't want to risk the fan falling off for 2C.

Actually bookie now I come to think of it you could use an old fan as the adapter between the ducting mod and the SK7, that way you'd be able to mount it ok just not sure on how rigid that would be with just the wires holding the whole thing together.
