An EMT-IV is a emergency medical technician. So I go out on ambulances and help people basically. There are certain things I can and cannot do depending on my level trained (EMT-B, EMT-IV, EMT-P). I can't wait to start school up for my paramedic license.

Oh and I called my mom and best friend first. But hey 3rd in line isn't that bad still.

I was once and EMT in the US Navy. It was OK, but these day I am not even CPR Certified, as I would not save the life of anyone besides my kids or someone close to me whom I thought deserved to live. Bad attitude but it is how I feel, and as such I would NEVER work in a hospital again.

Don't worry though, it doesn't seem like most people even know the difference. I work at a hospital and half of the peeps in the ER doesn't know the difference. Ah well.

1)Be ambitious about it!

2)If your state uses the National Registry, study a lot. It's not easy b/c of the fact that half of the questions have 2 right answers and you have to pick the best answer.

3)It's all about the ABCs.
