I finally got the component and optical cables for my xbox so i can get 1080p on my tv...wooo

I was only able to play with it for like 10 mins before i went to work and the green component was lose so the colors were all off on the tv - so i cant really comment on the picture quality yet.

BUT,
the optical out sounds amazing going thru my receiver. I loaded up xbox media center and palyed some mp3.... damn the sounds was crisp and clear. Also i need to get better speakers....
 
Yeah, I opened up my XBox last night to figure out which version it was. I was afraid it was a v1.6 -- which can't be modded (yet) -- but happily for me it's either a v1.4 or v1.5. (In order to tell the difference you need a multimeter, which I forgot to take with me when I moved :/) But regardless, it means I have a moddable XBox! YAY! As soon as I found out I ordered an X-Ecuter 2.3B Lite+.

So the point is that I feel your joy man. Slightly different, but still XBox-inspired joy.
